Athletes - Phil Mahre

Philip Mahre (born May 10, 1957, Yakima, Washington) is a former American professional alpine skier, and widely regarded as one of the greatest American skiers of all time. He won the silver medal in slalom at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics in 1980, and 4 years later in Sarajevo, won the gold medal in the same event (his twin brother Steve Mahre
won the silver medal). Mahre won the most prestigious title in Alpine skiing - the Overall World Cup Title - three (3) times consecutively from 1981 through 1983. No other American has won it more than once.

In 1985, a book (No Hill Too Fast) written by the Mahre brothers was published.
