Athletes - Roger Levesque

Roger Levesque (born January 22, 1981 in Portland, Maine) is an American soccer player.

Levesque played college soccer at Stanford University from 1999 to 2002. After two seasons as a reserve, Levesque earned a starting spot as a junior, and ended the season as a second-team All-American, having scored 14 goals and 9 assists. As a senior he was named a third team All-American while contributing 7 goals, but more importantly helped lead Stanford to the NCAA Final, where they lost to the University of Maryland.

Upon graduating, Levesque was selected 23rd overall in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes. Unfortunately, much of his rookie season was lost when he injured his ACL during a preseason game with the United States Under-23 national team. Levesque ended the season with 3 appearances and 43 minutes, although he did register two goals and one assist in just 183 minutes while on loan to the Seattle Sounders. In 2004, Levesque registered no time with the Earthquakes, but instead spent practically the entire season again on loan to the Sounders; he was quite impressive with the team, registering 8 goals and 4 assists in 27 games with the team, helping to lead the team to the A-League championship game. Levesque would again spend most of the 2005 season on loan to the Sounders and appeared in only one game for San Jose. Roger scored four goals for the Sounders in the 2005 United Soccer Leagues First Division playoffs. His three goals led Seattle past Portland Timbers and his stoppage time blast was the winner as Seattle beat Montreal Impact 2-1. Seattle went on to win the 2005 Championship though Levesque did not score in the Final. He was released by San Jose in November 2005. In February of 2006 Levesque signed a year-long deal to return to Seattle Sounders.
