Athletes - Ryan Sheckler

Ryan Allen Sheckler (born December 30, 1989) became one of the world's youngest professional skateboarders in 2003 at age 13. He had won over 150 events in his life by the age of 15. He has won events in surfing, snowboarding, and his most prominent sport skateboarding. He has toured with Tony Hawk
and Etnies.

At X-Games 2003, Ryan Sheckler (13 at the time) became the youngest athlete ever to win X-Games gold, which he did in SKB Park. While Ryan struggled at X-Games 2004 with the new street format, he still is successful at park contests, and won the overall Dew Action Sports Tour with the most points out of all the categories, earning him the Athlete of the Year award. For 16-year old Sheckler, however, it's the change in sponsorship from World Industries to the core company Almost Skateboards that is transitioning him into a core media skater. His first major video part came out in Fall 2004 in the Almost: Round Three video.

Since X-Games '03, he's appeared in Sports Illustrated For Kids, put in an appearance (with Tony Hawk
) on TEENick, appeared in the video game Tony Hawks Underground 2 and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, filmed for his part in the new Almost video and traveled to Spain, Australia, and Canada and he has also appeared on MTV Cribs. In fall 2004, Ryan started his freshman year at San Clemente High School.

Ryan has a signature move. The "Shecklair", as it is known, is a combination of a Kickflip and a Stiffy (an Indy air with the legs fully extended.)

His Skateboarding sponsors include Almost Skateboards, Etnies, Kicker, Volcom, Silver Trucks, Nixon, Oakley, Red Bull, NiNja, CCS, Mob Grip. His MX sponsors are Alpine Stars and Classic Honda. Also, he is sponsored by Kicker Audio and Amp'd Mobile.
