Athletes - Sean Banks

Sean Anthony Banks (born January 20, 1985 in New York, New York) is a professional basketball player who currently plays with the NBDL's Tulsa 66ers. Banks is a 6'8" forward who attended the University of Memphis, where he was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2004. Banks is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell. His career at Bergen Catholic High School was surrounded by controversy. He had multiple run ins with the law, most notably when he burned his gang's symbol on a female's ankle with a cigarrete. He also got arrested his senior year, when running from the police in his coach’s automobile, and ended up crashing into a snow-bank. Nevertheless, John Calipari took a gamble and offered him a basketball scholarship. In his sophomore year at Memphis, he was asked to leave the team for undisclosed reasons.
