Shad Gaspard (born in 1981 in Brooklyn, New York, New York) is an American professional wrestler best known by his ring name, Da Beast.

Career

Shad Gaspard was extensively involved in sports in high school, specialising in wrestling, track running and basketball. He attended college, where he continued to play basketball. After graduating, the physically imposing Gaspard became a successful No Holds Barred fighter (his record was 35-7) and amateur boxer (57-26), and also worked as a bodyguard for several rappers.

Gaspard eventually decided to become a wrestler, and trained in Ohio Valley Wrestling. He debuted in OVW in 2003 as Da Beast. Gaspard went on to join Bolin Services, a heel stable led by Kenny Bolin. Gaspard acted as Bolin's enforcer, and in February 2004 he formed a tag team with Carlos Colone.

After Colone left OVW in October 2004 to join the SmackDown! roster, Gaspard left Bolin Services and formed a new tag team with Osama, managed by Mo' Green. In June 2005, he was signed to a developmental contract by World Wrestling Entertainment.
