Spencer Haywood (born April 22, 1949 in Silver City, Mississippi) is a former pro basketball player.

Despite a spectacular college career at the University of Detroit, Haywood decided to turn pro after his sophomore year in 1969. But NBA rules, which required a player to wait until his class graduates, prohibited him from entering the league so he joined the Denver Rockets of the ABA.

He was named MVP in his rookie season (1969-70), becoming the youngest ever recipient of the award at the age of 21. In 1970, after forcing his way into the league through legal action, he joined the Seattle SuperSonics. In 1972 and 1973, while averaging he was named to the All NBA First Team. Surprisingly (because he was only 24) Haywood's performance declined in the following years. In 1975 the Sonics traded him to the New York Knicks, where he teamed with Bob McAdoo. Haywood later played for the New Orleans Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers, and Washington Bullets.

He was previously married to Iman, David Bowie's present wife.
