Steve Regal was a professional wrestler better known as "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal. He is not to be confused with Darrin Matthews' Lord Steven Regal gimmick.CareerSteve Regal started wrestling in 1977 He is the son-in-law of legendary Wilbur Snyder.Regal achieved his biggest success in the American Wrestling Association in 1985. He won the AWA Light Heavyweight Championship and the AWA World Tag Team Championship with Jimmy Garvin. While there, he feuded with Buck Zumhofe over the Light Heavyweight Title and Curt Hennig and Scott Hall over the Tag Team Titles. In one of the most shocking upsets in wrestling history, Regal and Garvin defeated the Road Warriors to win the tag titles with the help of the Fabulous Freebirds. They would lose the tag titles to Hennig and Hall 4 months later. Regal then left with Garvin, signing to wrestle with the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions where he feuded with Denny Brown and defeated him for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship shortly after his arrival. His stay in the NWA was brief, Regal vacated the title and headed for the WWF, which wasn't necessarily a good career move. At the time, the WWF roster was chocked full of larger atheletes and the company primarily focused on brawling over science. Regal essentially became a jobber, the fate of many wrestlers at the time who couldn't catch on in the WWF with a colorful gimmick. After a short stay, Regal would leave the WWF too, never again wrestling for a major US promotion. Regal then toured the independent circuit, primarily focusing on the Chicago area, until he retired in 1996. Currently he is an executive with General Motors in their marketing division. Profile
