Athletes - Stevie Graham

Stephen "Stevie" Graham (born June 11, 1982 in Wilmington, Delaware) is a professional basketball player currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. After playing college basketball through his senior year, including two years with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Graham declared for the NBA Draft in 2005. However, he was not selected. He played for the Phoenix Suns in the Las Vegas Summer League, and then for the San Antonio Spurs during the 2005 preseason, but was not offered a longer contract by either team. He then joined the Continental Basketball Association, a minor league, signing with the Sioux Falls Skyforce; he went on to appear in the 2006 CBA All-Star game.

Graham was signed by the Houston Rockets on December 10, 2005, but was cut on December 29 after playing in six games. After returning to the Sky Force in the interim, he signed a 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls on January 17, 2006. He played his first game in a Bulls uniform three days later against the Rockets.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, writing in the off-season of 2005, praised Stevie Graham for "extremely impressive" strength and athleticism and for fluid movement and ball-handling. Givony called him a "solid mid-range shooter", a "slashing threat", and "creative passer" who "has a knack for ... finding the open man", while noting that Graham "can get off the floor to snatch rebounds, alter shots, and dunk". However, he raised questions about Graham's perimeter shooting and criticised him for poor court awareness on defence and an overall lack of confidence. Givony argues that Graham's development suffered from limited playing time, particularly at the guard positions, during his college career, in which he produced unimpressive statistics.

It is not entirely clear what Graham's usual position will be in his professional career. Standing 6'6" (1,98m) tall and weighing 215 pounds (97,5kg), he has the body type generally associated with large shooting guards or undersized small forwards in the NBA; however, his abilities and his experience in college indicate that he might also be able to play point guard or power forward.

Stephen Graham has a fraternal twin brother, Joey
, also a professional basketball player, who was chosen in 2005 NBA Draft with the 16th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors. The two played on the same team throughout their college careers. Both Graham brothers graduated from college with degrees in aviation management and are licensed pilots.
