| Ted Ligety (born August 31, 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA) is an American alpine skier. Ligety won the gold medal in the Men's Alpine combined event at the 2006 Winter Olympics, in an upset victory after the two skiers favored to win the event had been disqualified. He is the first American to take gold in Alpine Skiing (for the Olympics) since Tommy Moe did for the downhill at Lillehammer '94. On March 5, 2006 he won his first World Cup race in Yongpyeong Giant Slalom. On March 27, 2006 Ted won the national slalom title at Sugarloaf Mtn. He won the title last year, along with the combined Ted finished 9th overall on the World Cup circuit in 2006.
