| Tom Morey (b Detroit, Michigan, 1935-08-15 - ) also known by the nomdeguerre "Y" is a musician, mathematician, aerospace engineer, and surfer responsible for several technological innovations that have heavily influenced recent and modern developments in surfing equipment design. An adherent of the Bahá'í Faith, "Y" is probably best known as the designer in 1971 of the first practical bodyboard, called in those days a Boogie Board after his love of music. He also designed systems for building a surfboard that allowed its skegs to be removed or replaced, and continues to be active in watersport related design and engineering. Quote
