Athletes - Tom Tresh


Thomas Michael Tresh (Born September 20, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan) is a former Major League Baseball infielder and outfielder. He played for 9 seasons (1961 - 1969) for the New York Yankees, before being traded to the Detroit Tigers on June 14, 1969 for Ron Woods. He was released by the Tigers on April 8, 1970.

Tresh was the 1962 American League Rookie of the Year and was a member of the American League All Star Team in 1962 and 1963. He led his league in 1966 in sacrifice flys.

In later life he helped to invent the Slide-Rite, a training tool to teach sliding and diving skills for baseball, softball, football and soccer.

He currently resides in Florida.
