Athletes - Vince Dundee


Vince Dundee (b. October 22, 1907, d. July 27, 1949), the former New York State middleweight champion of the world was born Vincenzo Lazzaro in Italy 1904. The family emigrated to the United States and lived in Baltimore. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, he changed his name to Dundee and became a professional boxer.

In 1933, after nearly 11 years in the ring, Dundee defeated Lou Brouillard over 15 rounds to capture the New York State version of the middleweight title. Dundee lost his claim to the crown when he was outpointed by Teddy Yarosz on Sept 11, 1934.

Dundee retired with a record of 118 wins (28KOs), 20 losses and 13 draws.
