| Fateless (Hungarian: Sorstalanság, which actually means "Fatelessness") is a novel by Imre Kertész. It was written between 1960–1973 and first published in 1975, in Hungarian (ISBN 9631423883). Its author won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2002, "for writing that upholds the fragile experience of the individual against the barbaric arbitrariness of history", referring to his novel Fateless. It was published in English in 1992 (ISBN 0810110490 and ISBN 0810110245) and in 2004 (ISBN 1400078636), the latter under the title Fatelessness. The novel is about a young boy, Gyuri Köves (based on the author), who is taken to the concentration camps Auschwitz and Buchenwald.
