The CityRover is a small automobile from MG Rover Group, launched in the autumn of 2003 as a rebadged version of the Indian Tata Indica. Its 1.4-litre petrol engine is one of the biggest available on a car in the city car sector.

The exterior styling is largely the same as an Indian-built car which had been in production since 1998. Interior space and comfort are good for a small car. The CityRover can be equipped with extras such as electric windows, power steering and air-conditioning.

Running costs are low, though its asking price is high against newer, more advanced competition.

Going against the CityRover's appeal is its poor handling and low-quality interior trim. On balance, the car is competitive against budget alternatives.

In the summer of 2004, just one year after the CityRover's launch, MG Rover announced plans to replace it with an all-new car within two years.

Sales were short of MG Rover's targets so the CityRover was given an upgrade for the 2005 model year, with more standard equipment. It also slashed up to £900 off the list price of the range, admitting that the range had not been competitive with its high asking prices.

Along with the rest of the MG/Rover range, production of the CityRover was suspended in April 2005 when the company went into receivership. It is unlikely to return to production when MG Rover production restarts during 2006 under Nanjing's control, as Tata had refused to continue the collaboration if MG Rover was taken over by another company.
