The Ford Ikon is a sedan version of the Ford Fiesta on the Ford B platform. It is manufactured and sold in India, South Africa, Mexico and China.
In Brazil, the Ikon was marketed as the Fiesta Sedan, but this model has been replaced by a new model based as the current model Fiesta. This model (code name B376), using the same Ford B3 platform, may eventually replace the Ikon in other markets, such as Mexico, where it is rumoured that it will go into production at Ford's plant in Cuautitlan in July 2005.
It is said that the car may be the most likely ready-made car to be sold in the US if Ford were to re-enter the B-size segment (or subcompact) in the US to compete with the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Chevrolet Aveo, Honda Fit, and Toyota Yaris, among others. Despite interest to return to that segment in the US, Ford has already said that this particular model will not be sold in the US.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Ford Ikon ]
