Cars - Geo Prizm


The Geo Prizm was a United States-market small car from the 1990s, formed in a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota. Sold as a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback, it was a rebadged version of the Toyota Sprinter
, an upmarket version of the Toyota Corolla
. It replaced the similar 1985 to 1988 Chevrolet Nova
and the Isuzu-based 1989 Geo Spectrum
. The Prizm was built at the New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. plant (NUMMI) in Fremont, California.

The Prizm was updated for the 1993 model year. It survived the demise of the Geo make as the 1998 to 2002 Chevrolet Prizm
.

Engines

All Prizms were powered by the same engine as the then present Toyota Corolla models.
  • 1990–1992 Prizms were powered by the 4A-FE or optional 4A-GE engine.
  • 1993–1997 Prizms were powered by the 4A-FE or optional 7A-FE engine.
  • 1998–2002 Prizms were powered by the 1ZZ-FE engine.
