The Geo Tracker was a compact SUV produced from 1990 until the end of the 2004 model year. The Tracker was a rebadged version of the Suzuki Escudo and was also sold by Chevrolet and GMC (in Canada) as the Tracker after 1991, before the Geo Tracker went on sale in Canada, as well as Asüna and by Pontiac under the name Sunrunner until 1997. The Asüna/Pontiac Sunrunner was only sold in Canada. Suzuki sold essentially the same model under the name Sidekick.

Model history

1990 - Tracker convertible CL debuts and an automatic transmission becomes available across the lineup.
1991 - A two-wheel drive convertible debuts.
1992 - Aluminum wheels become available on all models.
1994 - Optional new design aluminum wheels and all-season tires.
1995 - A new easily retractable top for convertible is added.
1996 - Revised exterior appearance. Driver and passenger airbags and 1.6 L SOHC engine made standard, four-wheel anti-lock brakes become available. Hardtop model discontinued.
1997 - Four-door and four-wheel drive hardtop model arrives.
1998 - Followed by discontinuation of Geo brand Tracker is permanently renamed as a Chevrolet. Two-door and two-wheel drive model and Tracker LSi four-door hardtop discontinued.
1999 - All-new Tracker arrives available with two or four doors.
2002 - A radio with CD player becomes standard, along with a roof rack and a rear wiper on hardtop model.
2003 - The smaller 1.6 L four-cylinder is discontinued and the 2.0 L four-cylinder becomes standard across the lineup.
2004 - Last year of its production. By the end of the year, the Tracker is replaced by an all-new model, the Equinox
. However, the 1998-2004 Tracker remains in bodyshell production in Mexico and other parts of Latin America.
