Cars - Peel P50

The Peel P50 was a microcar first released in 1962, by the Peel Engineering Company located on the Isle of Man. It was designed strictly as a town car advertised as capable of seating "one adult and a shopping bag".

The car currently holds the record for the smallest-ever automobile to go into mass production. It was 134 cm (53 in) long and 99 cm (39 in) wide, with a weight of just 59 kg (132 lb). The P50 had three wheels and only one headlight (only one light at all, for that matter) on the front of the car.

It used a 49 cc DKW engine and had a top speed of 61 km/h (38 mph). However, the car had no reverse gear—if it was necessary to reverse, the alternative was to get out of the car and turn it around using the handle provided. Despite its diminutive stature, the Peel P50 is street legal.
