| Scootacar is a brittish microcar created by a locomotive builder, the Hunslet Engine Works. It was allegedly built because thw vife of one of the directors wanted a something easier to park than her Jaguar. The shape of the car was designed by Henry Brown who did it by sitting on a Villiers engine and then having an assistant draw an outline around him. The body was deisgned in fibreglass and was actually quite roomy, but it was five foot high and was nicknamed "the telephone booth". In 1959 came the mark 2 a totally redesigned car, but it appeard to late to sell in any great numbers. It was powered by a 197 cc Villiers 9E single cylinder 2-stroke engine giving 8.5 hp and a top speed of 50 mph. In 1961 50 cars was fitted with a a 250 cc twin giving a top speed of 62 mph.
