| In the fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe, the Adeptus Mechanicus is the official name for the Cult Mechanicus or Cult of the Machine. Its members acknowledge the Emperor of Mankind as the ruler of the Imperium, but not in the divine sense mandated by the Imperial Cult. Instead, they follow their own dark and mysterious strictures. The Tech-Priests of Adeptus Mechanicus believe all knowledge is the manifestation of divinity, and all creatures and artifacts that embody knowledge are holy because of it. The Emperor is the supreme object of worship because he comprehends so much, and is considered an aspect of the Omnissiah, the Machine God. The Adeptus Mechanicus is based on Mars, and also rule over many worlds of the Imperium (these are called Forge Worlds). At one time, they became so powerful that they rebelled against Terra, their sister world; the two only made peace after the signing of the Treaty of Ceres, some time before Lord Commander Solar Macharius embarked on his great campaign. They provide the technical expertise of the Imperium, and control the Titans and the armies known as the Skitarii. Members of the Adeptus Mechanicus are men only in name; many are heavily cybernetically augmented to the point of having forsaken their flesh and blood bodies entirely. Many even have a blood substitute running through their veins, the end result of a procedure known as Autosanguination. To many regular citizens the adepts of the Cult Mechanicus are an enigmatic collective - they do not operate within the moral codes of most Imperial societies, instead doing whatever they can to gain more knowledge and to protect it. The Adeptus Mechanicus do not follow the laws of the Imperium, instead abiding by what they know as the Sixteen Universal Laws. The OmnissiahThere is a belief among the followers of the Warhammer 40,000 fictional universe that the Machine-God is in fact the Dragon, one of the four surviving C'tan. The Dragon is said to be slumbering within Mars, and his eventual reawakening would shake the very foundations of the Imperium. On the Forge World of Chaeronius, the people there came to believe that the Avatar of the Omnissiah lived on their world, and he was known as the Castigator. It was truly a daemon who had lived within the Standard Template Construct known as the Father God of the Titans (the original Titan) that it had forgotten what it was. The world soon fell to Chaos and entered the Warp for a thousand warp years (100 Real Years) before reappearing. It was eventually killed by an elite team of Grey Knights during the 13th Black Crusade.HierarchyFabricator GeneralThe Fabricator General is the highest-ranking individual within the Cult Mechanicus, and runs not only the Adeptus Mechanicus but also the planet of Mars itself. As befits his position, the Fabricator-General has a permanent seat on the council that runs the Imperium, known as the High Lords of Terra. Some players claim that this title is not unique, however, and that Fabricator General is the rank held of someone who is in charge of any Forge World, and that the position as High Lord is only for the Fabricator General of Mars.MagosA Magos is a master of technological discipline, having devoted many years of service to the Omnissiah. There are many specialist divisions such as Magos Alchemis, Magos Explorator, Magos Biologis, Magos Technicus, Magos Thermodynamicus, Magos Xenologis, Magos Electromagneticus, Magos Teledynamicus, Magos Theologin, Magos Exobiologis, Magos Astrologicus, Magos Aeronauticus, Magos Lexicanus, Magos Genetus, Magos Physic, and possibly many more.Magos ExploratorObsessed with the quest for knowledge, the techpriests known as Magos Explorator search high and low across the known galaxy for lost Standard Template Constructs and ancient knowledge. A breed apart from regular techpriests, any Explorator or member of his team will willingly walk into forgotten catacombs, even at risk of death, for snippets of long-forgotten knowledge. Although many have lived and died for the quest, the endless quest continues unabated.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Adeptus Mechanicus ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
