| Amaya is an open source web browser and authoring tool created by the W3C and INRIA. Amaya is a direct descendant of the Grif WYSIWYG SGML editor created by Vincent Quint and Irène Vatton at INRIA in the early 80's, and of the HTML editor Symposia, itself based on Grif, both developed and sold by french software company Grif SA. Originally designed as a structured text editor (predating SGML) and later as an HTML and CSS editor, it was then expanded to include XML capabilities such as XHTML, MathML and SVG. Amaya displays open image formats such as PNG and SVG, as well as a subset of SVG animation. It is commonly used today as a test-bed for new web technologies that are not yet supported in major commercial browsers. However, while being developed by the W3C, the browser ironically has very poor CSS support, as shown in the screenshot. The browser is available to Unix, Windows, Mac OS and other platforms. The latest release is Amaya 9.4, which was released on December 9 2005. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Amaya (web browser) ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
