Amy Sorel is a fictional character designed for the Soul Series of fighting games. Amy made her first appearance in Soul Calibur II (albeit only in the opening video sequence) and has returned as a playable bonus character for Soul Calibur III. She will appear as a full main character in Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition

Biography

Amy was a poor orphan who lived on the streets of Rouen. Her parents died of a plague that had spread across all of Europe during this time period. She had no other family to go to after the lost of her parents. One day she came across a man named Raphael, who was being chased by the local authorities. She hid Raphael from the soldiers who were pursuing him; she hid him only through spite to the soldiers, who ran her poverty stricken town. As Raphael had never owed his life to anyone before, he felt he must protect and repay her. He felt something he never had before for Amy, so took her in to his home and looked after her as his own daughter, to repay her for the kindness she had shown to him.

One day, Raphael returned from a vicious battle with the wielder of Soul Edge, Nightmare. Raphael collapsed before Amy's eyes and she nursed him back to consciousness. When he came round he told her that through the battle he had become infected by the evil seed, and by handling his blood, she was also now infected. Amy had always found it hard to open her heart to the world, but now she couldn't even try because she was too different from everyone else. She was no longer human. She went with Raphael to the castle he bought in Romania. She sat in a dim room seeing the torchs and troops gathering there. Raphael left, saying he will be out for a while. He took care of the troops and the noises ceased. But eventually they returned, but he didn't. He left her. And now the noises and light spread violently in the world he made, bringing it to ruins. She stood up and went to the exit. She bitten the words from those days and smiled. For she must protect this world that he made.

Amy wields a rapier named Albion. Aside from it's name, nothing else is known about it. It was probably given to her by Raphael.

It has been more than 100 years since Vlad the lmpaler lead his army against the Ottoman Turks and crossed swords with the Sultan in order to protect this land and his home country of walachia. Located somewhere in the deep mists of the southern Carpathian Mountains, this castle was not originally designed for a battle of that nature, but it was now about to face exactly that. The army of the Duchy of Walachia surrounded the castle and, seeing that the master of the castle was not going to give up without a fight, began their attack. No one knows why the national army initiated such a large-scale move, but the rumors say that a contagious desease that brings with it mysterious symptoms was spreading from beneath the castle, and the country had moved to destroy it at the source.
(Note: Altough this is really Raphael's stage, the fact Amy lives with him makes it her own as well, also she appears only there in Tales of Souls).

Trivia

Amy only appeared in Soul Calibur II during the intro video.
Amy is made using original (not unlockable) parts from Character Creation; she even has her own body build and voice actor (even if it is one word and various grunts made when she is hit). However, she does have her own attack grunts and phrases, since Lynnette, the shop keeper, shares the same voice. This brought some fans to believe that she will return in the next installment as a standard character with her own lines, attacks, and possibly a story. (As in a tales of souls story.)
It has been confirmed that Amy will appear as a standard character along with Hwang and Li Long in the arcade version of Soul Calibur III, "Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition". It is currently unknown whether she will use an expanded version of the rapier discipline movelist or an entirely new movelist.
Some fans also speculate that Amy is in love with Raphael, much like Setsuka was with her deceased master. This theory has been spawned from the line in Raphael's bio that states, "and the taciturn girl who watched him leave betrayed no hint of what lay hidden in her heart."
Amy's only line in the game is "Amy," which she says in Raphael's 1st ending, and in battle.

Amy's alignment is rather difficult to figure out. On one hand she seems to support what Raphael is doing. However in Raphael's bad ending she doesn't seem angry with what Kilik did.
