| The Apple 80 column card was an optional expansion card to be used with the Apple IIe that allowed the computer to display 80 columns of text charaters instead of the usual 40 columns of text. It also included an additional 64 KB of RAM necessary for some of the software that utilized the 80-column text. This was especially useful in conjunction with word processing programs. As with many Apple II products, clone cards were also produced that performed a similar function and some were even available for the Apple II and II+, which did not feature a dedicated slot for this card.
