The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is an action puzzle game series by Kemco released on the Nintendo Game Boy starring the popular Warner Brothers cartoon character Bugs Bunny.Trivia: History of Kemco Japan's game changes for the US and EuropeWhat eventually became the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle series for the Nintendo Game Boy (GB) and Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) (called Nintendo Family Computer or Famicom in Japan), were in fact, originally games starring Disney characters Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit in Japan. It is believed that Kemco and other companies' games starring Disney characters were changed to other non-Disney licences when released in countries outside of Japan, because Capcom had exclusive rights to the Disney property in the US at the time. It seems that either the games were re-programmed to star non-Disney characters in the US, or the games were kept the same, but released by Capcom here, as such in the cases of Mickey Mousecapade NES (Hudson) and Mickey's Dangerous Chase GB (Kemco). Here are some pictures comparing the different releases of the same games. The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (NES) The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (GB) The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 (GB) After part two, the Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse series' split up into their own series' in Japan. Before Japan's release of Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3, to keep continuity, they re-released Mickey Mouse 1 and 2 as Bugs Bunny Collection, with Super Game Boy capabilites. It seems that Europe however, never received a game titled Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2. Bugs Bunny Collection (GB) The rest of the Crazy Castle series continued on the Game Boy Color (GBC) and Game Boy Advance (GBA) and was kept the same in all territories. Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3 (GBC) Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 4 (GBC) Woody Woodpecker Crazy Castle 5 (GBA) Mickey Mouse 5-Part Series (continued..)Japan's Mickey Mouse series continued to become various other things in the US and Europe, up until Mickey Mouse V, which wasn't released outside of Japan until 1998. The US and European versions of Mickey Mouse Magic Wands have added Super Game Boy support.Kid Klown in Night Mayor World (NES) The Real Ghostbusters (GB) Mickey Mouse Magic Wands (GB) Other GamesHere are a few other games that were changed for their releases outside of Japan. Mickey's (Dangerous) Chase was released between Mickey Mouse III and IV, and is made by Kemco, but is not part of the same series. The title screen on all versions is simply "Mickey's Chase".Mickey's Dangerous Chase (GB) Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular (NES) Mickey Mousecapade (NES) (Not a Kemco game.) (Title screen says only "Mickey Mouse" on the US version) It should be noted that Snoopy's Magic Show (GB, 1990) was always a Snoopy game.
