Choi Bounge is a character in the King of Fighters series. History
Choi Bounge used to be a butcher in Korea, being very well-succeeded with his business (especially due to his gift of cutting stuff) and having a caring wife. However, this perfect life led him to boredom, and he felt he could put some action in his life. Thus, he became a small-time criminal who, along with his partner-in-crime, Chang Koehan, executed various bank heists and other random acts of thievery. One day, the hapless duo became arrogant and careless, resulting in their capture by the authorities. However, the jail walls were no match for Chang's overbearing strength, and they escaped. While wondering about what crime they were going to commit next, they ran into Kim Kaphwan; someone much more dangerous than the Police. He then proceeded to assault the hapless convicts; not relenting until they agreed to join his team in the KOF tournament as well as become part of his "rehab project" (in the actual games this is seen in the duo's acquiring of moves similar to Kim's since 1995 as well as matching outfits since 1996). Ever since, the two have attempted to escape from Kim's training dojo, with little success (Choi himself is shown tied up in Kim's stage in Real Bout 2). The situation hasn't gotten any more lenient with the arrival of Jhun Hoon (who is as dangerous as Kim) either. Trivia
- Choi's design is reportly based off the character Freddy Kruger.
- Accompanies Chang Koehan during fights in Capcom vs. SNK 2, but only for select special attacks.
- A taller version of Choi appears as a striker in KOF 2000. The taller version appeared in one of the four-panel KOF joke strips (known in the net as jests). It was the result of Choi hanging down from by his hands from a tree-branch and Chang Koehan weighing him down with his iron ball.
- In KoF 2002, his HSDM is called Shakushi (one translation is 'Death Slash'), where he does random slashes while in the air. This HSDM strikes a resemblence to one of Captain Kuro's (from One Piece) of the same name.
