Games - Chuck Woolery

Chuck Woolery (born March 16, 1941) is a popular game show host. One of the most recognizable faces in game show television, he has hosted Wheel of Fortune
(1975-1981), Love Connection
(1983-1994), Scrabble
(1984-1990, 1993), The Home and Family Show (1996-97, co-host), The Dating Game
(1997-98 update), Greed
(1999-2000) and Lingo
(2002-present). In addition, he was the subject of a reality show, Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned (2003), and serves as the announcer for GSN's
"coming up" bumpers. He has also been seen on television infomercials promoting a developing community Holiday Island, Arkansas.

Woolery was born in Ashland, Kentucky and grew up an avid fisherman. He made his first foray into the entertainment business as a member of the band Avant-Garde with his partner Elkin "Bubba" Fowler. In 1968, Avant-Garde produced a moderate hit, Naturally Stoned (which inspired the name for Woolery's reality series on GSN
).

At the urging of television host Merv Griffin
, Woolery accepted hosting duties for newly created game show Wheel of Fortune in 1975. He eventually left the show over a salary dispute with show producers. Combining strong looks with casual wit and unbounded charm, Woolery has since become one of the most respected and liked game show hosts in the business.

A born again Christian, Woolery had been married three times and has eight children. In 2006 he bought a house near Austin, Texas. Woolery often speaks enthusiatically about bass fishing and sells his own line of motorized fishing lures, MotoLures. His current game show, Lingo, is going into its fifth season on GSN
. On Lingo he once identified his worst nightmare as "being attacked by a large Calico cat named Skippy". Woolery also plays on the World Poker Tour
Hollywood Homes Games for the charity Safe Passage.
