Conquer Online is a Chinese Fantasy themed MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) for Windows PCs, developed by TQ Digital.

Downloading and playing Conquer Online is free forever because the game operators earn money by allowing players to purchase virtual, in-game items for real-life currency. Currently the only item to buy is the Dragonball, but in the past meteors have been available for purchase.

The operators also sell Conquer Online installation CDs for those who cannot download it or would like to own a hard copy of the game.

Gameplay & Server Info

Conquer Online, like most MMORPG's, has servers located in different parts of the world like China, Japan and USA, allowing players from all over the world to play together in real time. The operator updates the game about twice each month, and server maintenance occurs every two days.

Of the few quests available, most are straightforward 'treasure hunts'.

The Conquer Online landscape is a 2D rendition of mythical China with straightforward combat-focused gameplay. Much of the game is based on its free PK system and the guild wars which occur every week. During the guild war period, every guild who wishes may attempt to capture the guild pole from the guild who currently owns it, by gaining access to the guild castle and attacking the pole. When the pole's life bar has depleted, whichever guild did the most damage to the pole now owns it, and may control the guild doors so as to protect the pole until the end of the guild war period. Once the guild war period has ended, the guild which last owned the pole wins, and some benefits are granted to the reigning guild.

Conquer Online also utilizes an XP system, not to be confused with experience points. Every kill, as well as the gradual passing of time, increments a bar of XP. Once the bar is filled at its maximum level of 100, the player is shown a green bar that dwindles with time, but also is displayed with a number of skills, called XP skills. Once used, the majority of these grant a temporary enhancement in combat, such as flight or attack increases for a set period of time, though flight as an archer class is upgraded by learning better versions of the skill.

Class & Character Info

There are four classes in Conquer Online, though one of the classes, the taoist class, splits off into fire taoist and water taoist at level 40 and above. No matter which class is chosen, the basic character options are male or female, and small or large. The small and large characters are mostly only different in their appearance (and with clothes on, they are not always different sizes), though there are a few variations in other aspects of the characters, mostly to do with jumping speed unarmed or with certain weapons equipped. Some also claim that a small model (particularly females) is harder to target, giving them an advantage in PvP combat.

Prior to the release of version 2.0, a female taoist could only choose the large-bodied character.

In Conquer Online, there is a broad range of appearances for characters. Every body armor level has a different look, and every class has different looking body armor. Each piece of armour may be dyed one of seven colours. Also, characters may wear a hat (with the exception of the trojan class) which also appears on the character and may also be dyed one of seven colours. Or, an character could choose not to wear a hat, or to wear earrings, which allows the hairstyle to be seen. There are currently 16 different hairstyles to choose from, one of which is a bald head. Hair may also be dyed one of seven colours.

The classes are as follows:

Archer

The archer class uses a bow as a weapon, and the armor appearances range from rags made of leather and/or fur (low level) to elegant capes and wings (high level). It is popular mostly for its ability to hunt for items faster than any other class, its ability to fly, and its leveling speed. To hunt for items, an archer may go to a pack of monsters that are weak compared to the archer, and use a skill called 'scatter', which attacks every monster within a certain area near the character. Items that drop from the monsters are potentially valuable, so the more monsters the archer can kill, the more efficient the hunt is. Also, higher level monsters tend to drop more items, or items that are more valuable, so the more powerful the archer is, the better he/she can hunt.
