As such, there is a lot of vertical combat; that is, players must be wary of what is above and below them as well as what is in front of them and to their sides. This causes many players to get killed quickly, as it can be difficult to get accustomed to. The hostages are held in two adjacent buildings. The buildings are connected via the basement, which is where the Terrorists spawn.Criticism
Backalley is often criticized because it is less action-packed than other maps. However, due to the close quarters in which the players are, it requires much more strategy than most maps.
