de_survivor is a semi-popular bomb/defusal map in the first-person shooter game Counter-Strike
and is set in a snowy landscape near a crashed plane and a truck.

The Map

The map of Survivor encompasses a snowy mountain and gorge. There are two bomb locations, a truck and an airplane crash site. The map features a small city near the crash site and a gorge near the truck site. Near the Terrorist spawn, there is a small frozen river. If a player steps on the ice, it breaks and the player falls into the water. He consequently loses health until he can get out of the water.

Criticism

Survivor is a fairly balanced map, but is slightly easier for the Counter-Terrorists. They start right next to the bomb sites, so it is very easy to camp near the bomb zones and snipe incoming Terrorists. Then, Counter-Terrorists can travel into the city (most common choice) or the bridge/gorge. In the city, a fight usually breaks out between the teams. The Terrorists have the upper-hand here because they are higher up and better hidden.

The Terrorists start in a small field and can go right to the city or the gorge/frozen river. Since the gorge/frozen river is more treacherous, most choose the city method. After passing through the city, they may plant the bomb at either the plane site or the truck site (they are connected by a small cave). It is very easy for Counter-Terrorists to camp in both locations at high, hidden points and snipe at the Terrorists.

Uniqueness

In this map, there is an interesting ice field to pass through near the gorge. It features stalagmite-like ice sculptures.
The snow provides a lot of resistance to the player's movement so it is harder to move and very hard to turn around (especially on downhills).
The entire map is blanketed with snow.
There is an easter egg in this map; a brick wall can be shot down in the city near the arch leading into the bomb site, and behind it is a picture of the creator's wife and kid.
The crashed airplane says 'Oops! Airline' with the motto 'No guarantees'.
