Deathtrap Dungeon is a Fighting Fantasy role-playing gamebook published by Myriador Ltd., and later, in 1998 adapted as a video game for the PlayStation and PC formats, then by Eidos. While the gamebook is very popular and considered one of the best entries in the Fighting Fantasy series, the digital versions have received relatively poor reviews since their release, and are generally considered to be inferior Tomb Raider clones.

Computer and PlayStation game

The game is a third person adventure, set in a dungeon, where the main character is portrayed as an adventurer seeking riches. He or she may reach this goal by fighting through and surviving the deathtraps of said dungeon, after receiving an invitation to do so by the wizard who owns it.

The enemies include goblins, human fighters and dinosaurs, and the diversity and action in this section is hailed as one of few strong points in the game. On the downside, some of the puzzles are considered more frustrating than challenging, and poor camera control - often resulting in the player succumbing to an enemy or a trap he or she could not detect - is another point considered by reviewers to be a great drawback of the game.
