The Egg Carrier is a formidable flying fortress created by Doctor Eggman in the fictional Sonic the Hedgehog universe. It appeared first in the video game Sonic Adventure.

Similar flying fortresses have been a staple of Sonic the Hedgehog games for a long time, ever since the "Wing Fortress Zone" in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. They have reappeared (often with different names) in many games since - one zone in Sonic & Knuckles was aboard a flying fortress called the "Flying Battery". However, since the Sonic games have become more plot driven in Sonic Adventure, it is assumed that the canon name for all future versions will be "Egg Carrier" - it appeared as such in the Sonic X
television series. The remainder of this article refers only to the flying fortresses that have been shown since Sonic Adventure.

The Egg Carrier itself is capable of transforming into two forms. At least two of these near-invincible vessels were constructed. The first is currently floating off the coast of the Mystic Ruins, near Miles "Tails" Prower's laboratory. The second one was destroyed by Perfect Chaos.

Eggman Fleet

The Eggman Fleet is a fleet of battleships introduced in Sonic Heroes. Each battleship resembles an aquatic creature, but the Eggman Fleet was changed and upgraded for Shadow the Hedgehog. The flagship is possibly based off of the Egg Carrier.

Possible Return

A trailer for the next-generation Sonic game shows an enormous flying fortress that bears a slight resemblence to the Egg Carrier. It is possible that Eggman rebuilt the Egg Carrier to fit with his upgraded robots.
