Games - Falco Lombardi

Falco Lombardi is an fictional anthropomorphic falcon video game character who acts as Fox McCloud
's right-hand man in Nintendo
's Star Fox series
of video games. He is voiced by Hisao Egawa in the Japanese versions of the series, Ben Cullum in Star Fox Adventures, and Mike Madeoy in Star Fox: Assault.

His past is mysterious, always avoiding conversations of what he did before joining the team. It is known, however, that he is a former member of a gang of Space Hot-Rodders. Falco is seen as the finest pilot of the Star Fox team
, possessing a high skill level when at the cockpit of an Arwing
. Shortly after the story of Star Fox 64, he left the team. Where he went and why is unknown, but he does reappear again at the end of Star Fox Adventures to save Fox, and subsequently returns to the Star Fox team. He is, once again, an active member of Star Fox in Star Fox: Assault.

Falco has a rivalry with Star Wolf
's Leon Powalski, though the reason for it is unknown. It's possible the two had encountered each other during Falco's days as a gang member. He also has a possible love interest in Katt Monroe (who appears to assist the Star Fox team in Star Fox 64). It is possible the two were in the same gang prior to Falco joining the Star Fox team.

Falco never goes on a ground mission in Star Fox: Assault, probably due to the fact that he is a falcon in the first place and prefers the sky. This is further backed up by a quote of his in Star Fox 64: "I'll take the sky any day!"

In Star Fox: Assault, Falco is the only one on the team besides Fox himself to wear the Star Fox logo, a fox with wings. He has the insignia on his left arm and his right shoulder.

Games featuring Falco

  • Star Fox (scrolling shooter, 1993), SNES
  • Star Fox 64 (scrolling shooter, 1997, for the N64
    )
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee (fighting game, 2001, for GameCube
    )
  • Star Fox Adventures (GameCube, 2002)
  • Star Fox: Assault (GameCube, 2005)
It should be noted that Falco did not have a major role in the game Star Fox Adventures, only appearing at the very end to save the day. Falco is also not a playable character in the original Super Smash Bros. game. However, he is present in the sequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee, as a light, fast, close combat fighter whose down-A in the air is one of the most infamous spikes in the game. He is one of the game's hidden characters; to unlock him, the player must beat the 100-Man-Melee in Multi-Man Melee mode, or play 300 matches of Versus Mode. He plays similarly to the original SSB Fox on the Nintendo 64. Falco's blaster stuns and lacks multi-fire (unlike Fox's), but is extremely effective when performed after a short hop, thus removing most of the lag of the blaster. Falco is considered an upper-tier character.
