Fantasy Empires is a strategic PVP text-based war game. You begin as a province with a set amount of resources and must use those to build workers and scout for land to enlarge your territory and bring in resources. From there it's a matter of building and researching your army and battling it out with other provinces to try and get to the top of the rankings and earn a place in the hall of fame. In Fantasy Empires, or FE for short, you have the choice of playing your province in a public empire where anyone can join randomly when they sign up, or playing in a private empire which requires a password to get in. Private empires are groups of 15 provinces while public empires may have up to 25 provinces. The difference is in that the emperor can control who may join a private empire, but not who may join a public empire. You can also invite your friends to learn the game and start you're own private empire. With your own empire name and picture you can prove you're the best empire in the FE-world, or be proven otherwise.

The game is timed in ticks where one tick equals 30 minutes and there are between 3000-4000 ticks to a round on average, so a round will take at least a few months to play usually. The number of ticks is given at the start of each new round, as well as any new changes. The game has been evolving for quite a lot of rounds adding new features and options or strategy changes, but one thing remains the same. All researches, building times, and army travels times are based on ticks. For example, the first building a province can build takes 6 ticks, or three hours, to build. When a province is first started they are given 100 ticks of protection where they may not attack another province and no other province may attack them. This grace period allows a province to build up their economy and begin training an army. Activity is quite important, but far from necessary to play. You can win the game in several ways. The two greatest achievements are the individual player with the highest net worth, as well as team/Empire with the highest net worth. Throughout the game, there are continually updated stats about how individual players are faring.
