Finish Line was a pricing game on the American television game show, The Price Is Right
. It was played for a large prize worth more than $1,000, and used small prizes.

Gameplay

Finish Line had identical rules to Give or Keep, but used a much more elaborate horse racing track-type set. The gameboard had a horse and a finish line, with prices corresponding to the distance down the track.

The contestant was shown three groups of two small prizes. He/she had to pick out the item he/she thought was more expensive. As each pricing question was played, the "finish line" moved the amount of the rejected prize (e.g., if the rejected prize was worth $20, the "finish line" moved 20 spaces).

After all three sets of prizes were played, the final amount became the "finish line," which the horse had to pass for the contestant to win. A generic racetrack music cue played while the horse (complete with jockey) ran along the track.

If the horse crossed the finish line – i.e., the cumulative total of the "kept" prizes was higher than the "finish line" amount – the contestant won. Regardless of the outcome, the contestant kept any prizes he/she selected.

Retirement

Finish Line made its premiere during the winter of 1977-'78 and was retired in the summer of 1979 due to recurring mechanical problems with the game's set.
