| Flygon (フライゴン Furaigon in Japanese, Libelldra in German and Libegon in French) is a fictional creature from the Pokémon franchise. "Flygon" is a combination of fly and dragon. The "Fly" part of the name refers both to the Pokemon's natural aerial prowess and its insectoid qualities (as in dragonfly), while "gon" can signify either "dragon", "gone" (since the sandstorms it whips up can obscure it from sight like a sand veil), or "polygon," due to its rhombus-shaped wings. AppearanceFlygon resembles a large antlion. It has a long green body with two short legs, two rudimentary forearms and a long tail ending in a fan-like shape. It has two large rhombus-shaped wings. These qualities, along with its Ground/Dragon dual type, make it Pokemon's ideal insect dragon.BiologyFlygon's natural habitat is the desert, across which it flies. Flygon's wings kick up a cloud of dust and sand each time they flap, so that whenever Flygon moves, it is surrounded by a constant sandstorm. This provides Flygon with a useful cover from predators and other unwanted visitors who lose themselves in the dust cloud, while Flygon itself maintains perfect vision thanks to red covers that shield its eyes from the storm. These red covers imply that either Flygon would prove colorblind to red, or that in the evolution from Vibrava to Flygon, the green eyes were covered by the red coating, regulating the vision to normal coloring. When inside a Flygon-created sandstorm, the only thing one is aware of is the melodious sound of Flygon's wings, which can resemble the notes of a song. Because of this, and the Pokedex related cry, it is thought that perhaps Flygon has the ability to buzz its wings at a rapid pace to create a melody. It is thanks to such experiences that Flygon is classified as a "Mystic" Pokémon in the Pokédex and is traditionally said to embody and personify the spirit of the desert. It may be worth noting that Flygon is not the only Pokemon classified as a Mystic Pokemon. That title has also been awarded to Xatu, but the two Pokemon do not seem to have much in common. In the video gamesFlygon cannot be found in the wild. It can be evolved from a Vibrava at level 45, which evolves from a Trapinch at level 35. Therefore, the availability of Flygon depends on the availability of Trapinch and Vibrava.Flygon has an interesting type combination, making it proficient in both physical and special attacks, as well as the useful Levitate ability. Its stats are overall impressive - it has good offensive and decent defensive capabilities. It can learn a wide array of moves such as Crunch, Dragonbreath, and Hyper Beam by itself, as well as a number of TM and HM moves, like Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Giga Drain and Fly (a rare instance where this move can be taught to a non-Flying-type Pokémon). However, Flygon would also be a flying type if the video game did not have the 2 type maximum limit. A good moveset for Flygon would be Dragon Claw, Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Earthquake, and Sandstorm. It is a good attacker, so Dragon Claw for the raw power of it's element, Flamethrower/ Fire Blast for those pesky Ice types, Crunch as a filler move, and Sandstorm to slowly aid your battles. As with most Dragon-type Pokémon, Flygon's great weakness is Ice-type attacks, to which it is quadruply susceptible. However, its unique type and trait make it a good counter against things like Tyraniboah (a special Tyranitar that is supposed to counter Skarmbliss and hit everything else either neutrally or super effectively), Donphan, and Rhydon. In the AniméFlygon was most prominently featured in the sixth Pokémon movie, Jirachi - Wishmaker, where it helps Ash protect Jirachi from the movie's villain, a magician named Butler. This particular Flygon has grown abnormally large, much larger than its Pokedex entries state its height is, but that allows for Ash and Max to ride on it at the same time. Another Flygon is used by May's rival Drew in the Hoenn Grand Festival (where he finishes in second place) and afterward.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Flygon ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
