| FreeWorlds or Free Worlds is a TC (Total Conversion) Mod created as a supplement to the game Freelancer. The mod completely changes the storyline, plot, and galaxy of Freelancer, hence the term "Total Conversion." Currently, the most up-to-date version is 1.66. FreeWorlds takes Freelancer to a new level by creating a galaxy based on that of the Star Wars galaxy. Prospective players can choose to play as a Corellian, Imperial, New Republic, or civilian, along with many others, including Mandalorian. More info can be found on the Wookieepedia (otherwise known as the Star Wars Wiki). See External Links at the bottom. Version HistoryReleases of FreeWorlds include 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.52, 1.55, 1.62, 1.63, 1.64, 1.65, and 1.66, plus other unknowns. As of now, 1.66 is the current stable release. Also, several patches have been released for version 1.65, but these are most often server-specfic; see below.Version 1.52One of the less advanced versions of FreeWorlds, version 1.52 contained only 4 systems: Bilbringi, Coruscant, Corellia, and Bespin. Systems did not show much abundance of objects (planets, bases, etc.).Version 1.65FreeWorlds 1.65 is the current stable release of the FreeWorlds Mod. Several servers have also put out supplemental patches and add-ons to the mod. For example, the 24/7 RP Server runs a second patch on top of 1.65 known as 16.65 (not related to the 1.66 release). This allows for changes to several of the capital ships and the current FreeWorlds Funsever adds ships, makes some small and some big edits to ships, some outfit availibiltys, and etc...Version 1.66The new version of the Freeworlds mod. Released to the public on January 18th, 2006. Features numerous new systems, including Alderaan, Beshqek, Imperial Check Point, Japreal, Mandalore, Naboo and Yavin. No Freelancer Station models. Over 100 bases in the mod, many of which are space stations. A large portion of these were built using Aldebaran's Modular Station Project, which means each of these stations looks unique and different in its design while also having some of the best fitting hit boxes currently available for custom space stations without needing to build completely new sur files. In addition to the modular stations, there is also have some capital ships set up as stations plus some other stations (like Centerpoint and the Golans) which are based on their actual Star Wars design (some of these are modular too). No Freelancer Rooms or Planetary Landing scenes. That's right, every THN (that is room scenes and planetary landing scenes) has been replaced by new ones. Though they admit they have had to use some generic ones (especially some of the Space Station decks and the bars) they have plans to expand the variety with the expansion packs. In the meantime, many of the planets have their own custom built planetary cityscape with landing and taking off cut scenes. Brand new NPC costumes. Freeworlds already had Stormtroopers, Wookies, Mon Calamari, Mandalorian's and several other NPC models. Freeworlds 1.66 Development site Also has some screens, shipyard icon pics, and even has a Questions board for you people who like to ask questions.
