| With the coming of newer so called "next-gen" computer and video game systems, many role playing games, and even other games such as first person shooters, are trying to give the player more control. Sometimes, so many options are given to the player as to what they can do that the primary objectives of the game are entirely forgotten. The object of this type of play is that the players are supposed to become detatched to the feeling that they're just another player playing a game and become immersed that they believe they are a part of the game themselves, and that ideas like "free will" can be excercised. The Elder Scrolls series has been successful with this kind of play, giving players so many options that some completely ignore main quests and objectives. On a lesser note, some games incorporate a "good/bad" system, where your choices during gameplay determine how good or evil you are, which in effect should affect the storyline in the long run.
