GamePlasma is a website that launched Monday, June 16th, 2003 as an online publication in the Interactive Entertainment Industry. GamePlasma.com provides up-to-date news, reviews, previews, and original and unique editorials for the video games industry as well as media in the form of screenshots and videos.

GamePlasma.com is owned by New Horizons Technologies, a small business based in Richmond, Virginia and was created by Tim Bradshaw, the company's President.

Content

GamePlasma provides daily content to its users. Unlike competitors such as GameSpot or IGN, GamePlasma continues to focus on providing free content without pop-up advertisements or interstital advertisements.

GamePlasma's content comes in the form of industry news, previews, reviews, interviews, screenshots, videos, and original editorials. GamePlasma continues to earn recognition in the Interactive Entertainment Industry while it covers PC Games, Xbox360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, PlayStation Portable, N-Gage, Nintendo DS, GameBoy Advance, Gizmondo, Mobile Games, and Gaming-Related Hardware.

Rating System

GamePlasma's rating system is based on a scale of 0 to 10, 10 being the highest (which has never been acheived). The rating is an average of five criteria: Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, "FunFactor", and "PlasmaFactor".

The FunFactor Rating is based on replay value, multiplayer content (if applicable), ease or difficulty of gameplay, and anything else that the reviewer feels makes the game worth playing.

The PlasmaFactor Rating works as an "other" category, which allows GamePlasma's writers to give a game bonus points for being groundbreaking or having a good multiplayer mode; basically anything that isn't covered by the other criterion. It also can swing the other way, if there's something that gives cause to take points off for ratings' sake. As a general rule of thumb, however, the better a game's PlasmaFactor, the better of an overall game it is.

Network

GamePlasma.com is the flagship site of the GamePlasma Network, a Network created by the developers of the New Horizons Gaming Network, GamePlasma's predecessor. The Network currently includes GamePlasma's forum community, ForumPlasma. The Network has plans to expand in the near future to include fansites for several video games. GamePlasma's parent company also has plans to launch sister networks in its plan to create a complete Entertainment Network.
