George Stobbart is the main character in the Broken Sword adventure game series by Revolution Software. Stobbart currently lives in California, USA. He is a lawyer by profession, enjoys travelling and is fascinated by history. Moreover he is able to read Latin.

His trademark appearance comprises of blonde hair, cut short in the back of his head but left long in the front and combed to the sides. He also wears a piece of clothing which seems like a cross between a shirt and a small jacket.

Though George is sometimes appropriately serious he tends to come off as rather sarcastic and tends to state the obvious e.g. Broken Sword 2, Marseille. After picking up a Boat Hook Out the Water.

"The stick had a hook on one end, i figured it was a boat hook.....for hooking boats"

There is little mention of his parents or family in the games. George is estimated to be in his 30s (As of The Sleeping Dragon) because he is suspected of being born either in the sixties or seventies (George's father was obviously a hippie). His father passes away between the first two games which is the reason he has been away from Paris during that time.

George's girlfriend is the French freelance photo-journalist Nicole Collard, introduced in the first game while investigating two previously unconnected murders. Nico sees the good in George beneath his sarcastic crust which is also the reason why the two seem to stick together better than some other adventure game couples.

George has also made several acquaintances in different countries. The ones he has run into again include the Hendersons (Pearl and Duane) who regularly travel as tourists but Duane is a CIA Agent (or at least he thinks he is but doesn't quite know) and the heavily-drinking Gendarme who George always seems to meet at a Cafe at Montfaucon.

George's social-nemesis is André Lobineau, a French history-student whom Nicole knows since college and who (at least in the first two games) considers himself a competitor for Nicole's affections (he bought her a pair of lacy red knickers with a black heart in Broken Sword 2) even though Nicole's tastes are made more than clear over the course of the games.

George's true enemies vary depending on the game but do seem to include the Neo-Templars, a secret organisation following in the footsteps of the Knights Templar and attempting to gain power over nations and influential organisations.

He is voiced by Rolf Saxon in all three games.
