| Gogo is a fictional character of the Square Co., Ltd.'s computer role-playing game Final Fantasy VI. Gogo has appeared in two games, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI. In Final Fantasy V, Gogo was an optional boss, and in Final Fantasy VI, Gogo was a secret character. "Shrouded in odd clothing, ...Is this a man...? ...a woman...? ...or should we ask...?" To many, Gogo is one of the most unique video game characters ever created, from his/her lack of gender identification (although in the Japanese version of the game Gogo uses the pronoun "おれ", which suggests that Gogo is male), unique clothing, and strange abilities. To gain Gogo in Final Fantasy VI, the player must be eaten by an enemy known as the Zone Eater, which only appears in a certain area, the Triangle Island, during the "World of Ruin" half of the game. Because of its secretive nature, Gogo is referred to as an easter egg, a secret character, and it is possible to go through the game without ever knowing Gogo exists. MimicGogo's special ability is Mimic, which allows him/her to copy the actions of any party member. This creates a wide array of unique strategies, as Gogo can do things that normally only one person can do, such as Setzer's slots and Gau's rages. The only abilities Gogo cannot copy are Terra's Morph and Gau's Leap. The player can also "equip" Gogo with any three abilities in the Status screen. However, while Gogo can either Mimic or use any magic that the party collectively knows, Gogo cannot equip an Esper and learn his/her own magic. However, equipping him with the Magic ability gives him access to any spells known by your current party members, thus actually making him one of the most powerful characters. This boon is countered by the fact that for some reason, Gogo's Magic command is unusable on the Tower of Magic.Gogo in Final Fantasy VIn Final Fantasy V, Gogo is an optional boss that must be defeated in order to gain access to the "Mime" job. Early in the game, upon receiving the power of the Water Crystal of Walz, one crystal shard is located in an unreachable section of the crystal room. Later on, after the Tower of Walz sinks into the sea, the player is able to use a submarine to access the sunken tower, where the mysterious Gogo awaits them. He invites the party to prove their power by defeating him in battle, and once they do he grants them the power of the crystal shard and the job that is contained within: Mime. He is never seen again afterwards.Gogo's IdentityGogo's true identity is a topic of a lot of interest for many fans of Final Fantasy VI. The other playable characters in this game have incredibly distinct personalities (perhaps excluding Umaro the sasquatch) as well as some sort of background story and/or explanation for their willingness to fight the Empire. Gogo holds no such background story, his motives are unclear (though attempted to be stated), and his dialogue is extremely rare and brief. In an attempt to unmask just who this character truly represents, several incredibly creative theories have been invented - some with extremely interesting and curious information.---- <> Adlai Stevenson Theory <> The most interesting theory by far holds that Gogo is meant to represent Adlai Stevenson, a politician from the United States. As crazy as it may sound, the odd theory held some very convincing evidence that, at the very least, proves to be extremely coincidental. To back this theory, the theorist introduced five quotes that freakishly seem to literally describe moments in the game, while actually talking about other things. These quotes are as follows: "I am always amazed by the resistance offered to progress...Imagine, if you will, jumping from one rickety bridge to another, with blind men running back and forth trying to push you off, and you will have some idea what legislating progress is like. The good news is that if you're pushed off, you can always climb back up and try again," - from his book, What I Think The quote above is INCREDIBLY coincedental (if truly cited). In the dungeon one must progress through to obtain Gogo, there is one particular obstacle that involves jumping from one rickety bridge to another, but on each bridge there is a blind man that will push you off if he touches you. If you fall, it isn't the end - you just climb back up the stairs and try again. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Gogo (Final Fantasy) ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
