The Great Crusade is a historical period in the fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe, lasting from the early 29th to mid 31st millennium.

The Great Crusade was initiated by the Emperor of Mankind, in an effort to reunite the human civilisations isolated and sundered by the Age of Strife. During this time, the Emperor was responsible for the creation of the genetically modified Primarchs and the Space Marine Legions they commanded, the foundation of the Imperial Army, (to be later split into the organisations known as the Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy) and the establishment of the Ecclesiarchy as the maintainers and promoters of the human religion.

During this time, thousands of worlds were reclaimed, conquered, or cleansed of alien infestation by the Space Marines and the Imperial Army. These worlds came together to form the Imperium of Man, with the Emperor as their leader, and in some cases god.

The Great Crusade lasted until the early 31st millennium, at which point the Horus Heresy began.
