	Games - Horde

The Horde is one of the major factions in the Warcraft universe — a fictional universe in which a series of games and books are set. In its current form, sometimes referred to as the "New Horde", it is a loose alliance of five major races: the Orcs, Darkspear Trolls, Tauren, Forsaken (Undead), and Blood Elves.

In Warcraft: Orcs and Humans the Horde was referred to as the Orcish Hordes and was composed of only the Orcs. In Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness the Horde consisted of the brutal, demonic Orcs, and they also recruited Goblins, the Ogres from Draenor, and the Forest Trolls led by Zul'Jin. After their defeat in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness the Orcs' allies abandoned them. In Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos the Orcs, freed of their demonic curse, allied themselves with a tribe of Jungle Trolls know as the Dark Spear Tribe after their island was sunk beneath the sea, and soon afterwards the noble, shamanistic Tauren. They also have some goblins and the Stonemaul Ogres in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. In World of Warcraft, the Horde formed a loose alliance with the Forsaken, a group of Undead who broke free of the Lich King's control. With the Alliance having officially cast out the Blood Elves the remnants of the High Elves of Quel'Thalas the Horde was their last hope, seeking to gain passage to Outland they joined the Horde after retaking their beloved Eversong Forest and their capital city of Silvermoon. Their admitance into the Horde was championed by Queen Sylvanas. Before the Dark Lady became a banshee she was a High Elf. They are now preparing for their venture to Outland to find Prince Kael'thas with the help of their new found allies. The book "Lord of the Clans tells of Thrall's backstory as he takes control of the horde and tries to cleanse it of the demonic warlocks that have overrun most of its population.

The wary, though official, truce with the Alliance to fight the invasion of the Burning Legion in Warcraft III still exists in World of Warcraft, though the Horde is at war with the Burning Legion, and the Scourge.
