The Hot Lava Game, also known as "The floor is lava!" game, is a children's game that involves stepping from one piece of furniture to another, without touching the floor, which is considered "hot lava". Occasionally, when stepping on the floor is unavoidable, players are allotted a number of seconds or steps for which they are allowed to touch the floor.

This game sometimes starts spontaneously with the announcement "Oh no! The floor is hot lava!"

Since this game tends to evolve without outside interference many variations exist, such as "The floor is quicksand!". However the rules tend to stay basically the same.
