Games - Jaina Proudmoore

Jaina Proudmoore is a fictional character in the Warcraft universe — a fictional universe in which a series of games and books are set.

Biography

She is the most powerful Human
sorceress alive, a protégé of Archmage Antonidas
, and former lover of Arthas
, the one-time Prince of Lordaeron
and now enemy of all who live. When Arthas began to fall from grace in his efforts against the Undead Scourge, Jaina tried to talk him back into sanity, to no avail. She did not follow Arthas into Northrend
, but instead rounded up what remained of the Alliance of Lordaeron and travelled to the West, to the continent of Kalimdor
, as the Prophet Medivh
had instructed.

There she made pacts with Thrall
, the visionary leader of the Horde
, and Tyrande Whisperwind
, the High Priestess of the Night Elves. Together the fragile alliance successfully defended the World Tree and defeated the Burning Legion
's Second Invasion led by Archimonde
.

After the war, Jaina rallied the remaining humans, elves, and dwarves and retreated to Theramore Isle, in the Dustwallow Marsh off the coast of southeastern Kalimdor
. There she founded an Alliance stronghold, the only bastion of Human power on the western continent.

Peace did not last long, as the Horde
also settled in Kalimdor, where they lived under an uneasy peace. However, the appearance of Admiral Proudmoore
's Kul Tiras Marines and their attacks on the newly founded settlements of Durotar forced Warchief Thrall into action. With the help of Rexxar
the Beastmaster, the Orcs, Tauren, Trolls and Ogres pushed the Kul Tiras forces all the way back to the Theramore Isles. But the Admiral had never forgiven the Orcs for the devestation of the past wars, and refused to believe that they had changed. With a heavy heart, Jaina realized that the only way to stop her father was for the Horde to assault Theramore Island itself.

The Horde prevailed and, before Jaina could intervene, Admiral Proudmoore was slain in the throne room of the island's citadel. Knowing the threat had been removed, the Orcs and their allies left Jaina and the island in peace.

Jaina prefers actions over words, leading her to develop a great admiration for Thrall's success in founding Durotar and a deep resentment of the unending, fruitless debate among the members of the High Council of Lordaeron (when it was still in existence). At least until the recent conflict, she preferred study to combat and did not consider herself a warrior. Jaina holds all races on equal terms, treating all as intelligent, reasonable beings.

World of Warcraft

In World of Warcraft, Jaina resides at the top of her tower in Theramore Isle. Alliance players can be greeted by her in person after completing the quest "The Missing Diplomat" and Horde players can fight against her. She is not considered one of the main Racial Leaders, and as such will not give the same honour awards that the likes of Thrall and Sylvanas would. Nonetheless, as the most powerful sorceress alive, she is an incredibly tough opponent and only a skilled level 60 raid party would ever hold a chance of taking Jaina down.

Family

Jaina is the youngest daughter of Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. She is the half-sister of the half-elf, Finnall Goldensword. She has a late older brother, and another relative (possibly a brother) named Tandred Proudmoore, who is the current ruler of Kul'Tiras.
