Kevin Barnaby Covais (born May 30 1989) was a fifth season American Idol
participant from Levittown, New York. He was eliminated from the competition on March 22, 2006.

Biography

He was born in Newark, New Jersey but moved to Levittown, New York in Long Island in 1999. He started singing at the age of 10 and has taken voice lessons for four years. Kevin has stated that Brian McKnight and American Idol Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson are favorite singers of his. In the future, he plans to pursue a career in singing, acting or journalism.

In the spring of 1996, Covais and his family travelled to Dollywood, famed theme park of country music legend Dolly Parton. While there, Covais met Parton and claims hearing her sing was the start of his drive to become a singer.

Covais is currently a junior at Island Trees High School. He is a member of the Drama Club and has played the lead in several school plays; he is also a member of the Metropolitan Youth Chorale.

He is of Italian, Irish, French and German descent. He collects designer pogs . He is a fan of Kanye West. He is also a fan of the New York Mets, the New Jersey Nets, and the New York Jets.

Covais has diabetes.

American Idol

Covais auditioned in Boston, Massachusetts. On March 9 2006, he made it into the top 12 of American Idol, which is the finalist round. Covais has dubbed himself the show's "sex symbol," while fellow finalist Paris Bennett and host Ryan Seacrest called him "Chicken Little" for his resemblance to the character in the Disney movie. He was the selection of votefortheworst.com, the website made famous through its voting through Scott Savol in Season 4 of American Idol. He was eliminated on the March 22, 2006 episode of the show.

He was often shown being kissed by many of the female contestants, especially Katharine McPhee. She kissed him several times throughout the competition.

Elimination

Covais was eliminated on March 22, 2006. He was in the bottom three with Bucky Covington and Lisa Tucker.

After Idol

Even after his ouster from American Idol Covais still wants to pursue singing. He has made a number of media appearances, including Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 24, 2006.

Covais also wants to return to television, telling TV Guide's Shawna Malcolm, "You'll see me on TV again. If Disney comes calling..."
