| Killzone PS3 is the working title, (given by fans, the trailer refers to the game simply as "Killzone") of the third installment to the Killzone games that began on the PlayStation 2. Dubbed the "Halo Killer" by the fans and media, it is being developed for PlayStation 3 by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was announced in EGM magazine. Killzone PS3 must not be confused with Killzone: Liberation, which is a PSP title set to release in 2006. There was much controversy as to whether or not the trailer shown at the E3 2005 convention was using the actual game engine in real-time, or was pre-rendered. Sony has stated that it was rendered in real-time: SCEA's Vice President, Jack Tretton, says that the Killzone footage displayed during E3 2005, "is definitely real" and "is real gameplay." But as it turned out, Jack Tretton was actually referring to a previously talked about game, instead of Killzone, called I-8. Most people immediately assumed Mr. Tretton was referring to Killzone. But that was NOT the case. This video interview can be found at . However, Jan-Bart Van Beek hinted at the trailer being pre-rendered. Even further comments from Guerilla Games highly suggest that the trailer was not real-time. More recently, the president of blur said in an interview with SpikeTV that he knew the CG firm in Scotland that made the video and worked on it for over 6 months. Guerrilla Games has stated that the video was a representation of what they (Guerrilla Games) felt was achievable on the PlayStation 3. To add fuel to the fire, Guerrilla Games has mentioned that there have been graphics coming around at Guerrilla that support their claim. Thus, Guerrilla Games has always maintained that the graphics in the sequence are achievable on final PS3 hardware. At one time there was a rumor started by PSM , that the footage was in fact rendered with in-game engine on a PS3 alpha kit at ~5 FPS (frames per second), recorded, and sped up to 60 FPS for the presentation (pre-rendered, technically). Despite the footage controversy, many fans have hyped the game to be the "Halo Killer". This is at odds with the community's overall reception of the original Killzone, which is considered by many to have failed to live up to its hype. Although Killzone PS3 has received significant amounts of media attention, little else is known about it at the present time. No new videos or screenshots have been released yet.
