Games - Krabby

:For information on the Krabby Patty, see SpongeBob SquarePants.

Krabby (クラブ Crab in Japanese, Krabby in German, Krabby in French) is a fictional character in the Pokémon
animé, manga, and video game series. It is a water-type Pokémon. It evolves into Kingler
.

"Krabby" is a variation on crabby, which denotes both its species and its personality.

Biology

Krabby's most notable feature are its large pincers. Although their pincers can be broken off, they lose the ability to walk sideways if one is broken; however, they can walk forwards if their pincers are broken. The pincers grow back eventually.

Krabby is an omnivore and a scavenger; it rarely hunts for itself. It can also act as a filter feeder by digesting the bacteria in sand, but this is rare. It is territorial, and in beaches where there is little food, fights between Krabby are common.

Krabby also uses camouflage; it can form mucus sacs about itself if threatened, making it seem larger or making it harder to spot against sea sand. It is usually very small, but it makes up by its aggresiveness.

In the video games

Krabby can be captured in Pokémon Red and Blue, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon Crystal, and Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. In all of the above games, Krabby is ubiquitous, being able to be found with multiple methods (in grass, by fishing, by smashing rocks open) in multiple areas.

In the Animé

In the episode Mystery At The Lighthouse, Ash Ketchum
captures a Krabby on the beach; however, as he already had 6 Pokémon, it was automatically transferred to Professor Oak's lab. For the next few episodes, a running gag was Ash fretting that Professor Oak
was going to cook his Krabby and make it into sushi. He only used it in battle at the Indigo Tournament against Mandy, where it evolved into a Kingler
; it has been living at Professor Oak's lab along with his other Pokémon that were not brought to Hoenn or the revisit to Kanto.
