Games - Machinae Supremacy

Machinae Supremacy, sometimes abbreviated to "MaSu", is a band from Luleå, Sweden, that plays a cross between power metal and bitpop. Self-defined as SID Metal, they usually use a SidStation
that features the SID chip
of the Commodore 64
. They have released a considerable number of songs for free download on their site, and are strong supporters of the Ogg Vorbis audio format. The band has released their second studio album, REDEEMER.

Origin

Machinae Supremacy was formed in summer 2000 by Robert Stjärnström, Kahl Hellmer and Jonas Rörling. The name of the band had existed even before this, but it was only a few months later the band really found the path they wanted to follow. Gordon (Andreas Gerdin), a long time friend of Jonne, joined on keyboards and Tobbe joined on drums. Tobbe was great help to the band in the early years, although he longed for elsewhere. In 2002, Tobbe left the band and was replaced by Tomas Nilsén, who is a long time friend of Robert's.

In 2004, the band released its first commercial album Deus Ex Machinae; it was re-issued in 2005. Later, Kahl moved away from Luleå and could no longer take part in the band. He was replaced by Johan Palovaara. Music By Design Records Ltd., the band's publisher, ceased to exist during this time.

In February 2006, the band announced they would be releasing their second commercial album, REDEEMER, on March 18, 2006, as well as opening their own merchandise shop (instead of relying on outside companies).

The band is currently unsigned, and turned down their last offer by JMT records because they were going to lose some of the rights to the band.
