Maki Kagura is a character in the King of Fighters series. Although she has been known since KOF 96 to 97, she made her debut in KOF 2003.

She is the late elder sister of Chizuru Kagura, also from the Yata clan. Not much is known about her, except she was killed trying to protect the seal of Orochi against the leader of the Hakkeshu, Leopold Goenitz.

In KOF 2003, she appears in the game as a seemingly-identical twin of Chizuru.

Trivia

It was mentioned in the anniversary website that they actually planned for Maki to have shorter hair (as suggested by the image gallery in KOF 97) but was later scrapped due to time constraints . It is unknown how Maki was revived or generated. Theories suggest she may have been resurrected, or is an image created by the Mirror of Yata. There are also subtle hints Maki was haunting Goenitz at the time of KOF 96.
