Marineland is a themed amusement and animal exhibition park in the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Its mascot is known as King Waldorf, a walrus dressed like a king.
Services
The park provides:
- Locker, stroller and wheelchair Rentals.
- allows picnicking and has a corporate area for picnics.
The exhibits at Marineland include:
- Friendship Cove - The world's largest whale habitat for viewing killer whale above ground and below. Many trainers are on hand and allow guests to feed and pet the whales. Friendship Cove currently holds Three killer whales: Nootka, Kiska and Athena. Kandu recently died on December 21st 2005.
- Arctic Cove - Opened in 2004, features beluga whales, it is much like Friendship Cove allowing you to view above and below ground and feeding/petting from guests.
- Bears - an area featuring black bears sits below a viewing deck, this unique vantage point give guests the opportunity to throw bread pieces for the bears to eat.
- Deer - A favourite for parents (many pictures of their children trying to feed crowding deer), the deer are in a fenced in area which allow people to move about freely, food is provided for a fee.
- Fish - An area in which several types of fish gather around "deck bridges", allowing easy viewing and feeding (for a fee),
- Elk and Buffalo exhibits - allow for easy viewing of these creatures grazing, however there is no feeding here.
- The King Waldorf Stadium Show and The Aquarium Dome- shows featuring mainly seals, walrus, dolphins as well as killer whales. Sitting near the front risks getting wet.
Roller Coasters
- Dragon Mountain Roller Coaster - opened as the worlds largest non-stop roller coaster (spread out of 30 acres), a title that it no longer holds. It features tunnels which leads to the line up area. Has a double-loop and horizontal loops.
- Sky Hawk- Spinning ride which also moves vertically up and down. Features one or two person cages, without restricting belts or harnesses.
- Wave Swinger- A swing ride which has a moving top allowing the swings to go up and down.
- Tivoli Roller Coaste r- Children's coaster, features a lady bug cart.
- Tivoli Wheel - This is a "hanging" ferris wheel.
- Magic- Located near the bear area, this is a spinning ride. Features statues of bears on the ride.
- Kandu's Twister - "Tea-Cup" style ride which features killer whales on its sides.
- Space Avenger - Spinning ride which features a control panel in the cages allowing the rider to move vertically up and down.
- Viking Boat Carousel- Simple carousel with a Viking boat theme.
- Flying Dragon
- Sky Screamer - Marine land's newest ride, worlds highest triple tower ride (137.2m or 450 ft). Since it is on a large mountain like hill, it provides a great view of the city and falls.
Marine land's Future
Marineland is currently doing a $160 Million expansion. This will provide the now under construction aquarium. When it is completed it will be the world largest aquarium complex.
